Whidbey Island (1/2) Marathon

I went to the Whidbey Island Marathon web site. I was disappointed to see that Nature's Path is not a sponsor this year. After reviewing the site, I'm again thinking of not participating. They mention there will be a shirt, but don't even say that it will be a tech shirt. They don't have a course profile available and looking at the course, the water stops are spaced unevenly. There are some stretches where there are no water stops for 3 miles. I didn't spend a really long time on the site, but I wasn't impressed. I really wanted one of the organic cotton t-shirts they had last year. Does anyone know anything different?

I was thinking about doing Whidbey instead of the Mercer Island half as my lower legs are not keen on the extreme camber of the road on much of MI.

What I think sucks about Whidbey is if you're one of the faster Full marathoners... you're going to run into walkers/runners from the Half for about the last 10-11 miles.

Anyhow, I'm still interested. I can get you a course profile if you really want it. :)

I did the half last year. And I really enjoyed it, it was beautiful, and the terrain varied, lots of rolling hills. And since I love the downhill - there were some great(fast) downhills. But remember this is a very small race - so if you do the full - it is very thinned out by the time you would join back in with the half walkers. Afer the first couple miles it is pretty much single file.
But I would recommend it, and am thinking of doing the half again.

I can't comment on Whidbey but wanted to throw this race out there if anyone is interested. I am now looking at the Windermere marathon in Spokane on May 16th as my next attempt to qualify. It starts in Idaho and runs along the Spokane river. It's almost all downhill, 2 little blips along the way. If anyone is interested in joining me, there's a marathon relay as well as a half. www.windermeremarathon.com. If you click on the course map, it takes you to a mapmyrun page and you can click the elevation box in the upper right corner to see the course profile... It's also good timing as a long training run for Rock N Roll (6 wks before). :)

I might be interested in the half.
